How to get more Google reviews and reply to them properly
By Future Momentum Systems · Updated October 2026
Why Google reviews matter
They're one of the biggest factors in showing up on Google Maps, and most customers read them before calling.
How to get more Google reviews
- Ask every happy customer – right after the job, while they're pleased
- Send a direct review link by text (from your Google Business Profile → "Ask for reviews")
- Make it one tap – no searching for your business
- Ask in person, then follow up with the link
- Automate it so it happens after every job
- Never pay for or incentivise reviews – Google can remove them
How to reply to Google reviews
Reply to every review, within a few days, by name, and keep it short.
Example reply – positive
“Thanks so much, Sarah – really glad the boiler's running well again. Give us a shout if you ever need anything.”
Example reply – negative
“Sorry to hear this, John. That's not the experience we want anyone to have. Please give me a call so I can put it right.”
What not to do
- Don't argue
- Don't share private details
- Don't copy-paste the same reply
